Borrowdale,
to the south of Keswick is bordered on the east by the rather boggy hills
of the Ullscarfe range (best traversed when frozen) and in the west by
Dale Head and Grasmore. Both these ranges give good "horseshoe" type walks,
perhaps the best being Dale Head over Cat Bell and down over Robinson or
Hindscarth. The Grasmore range offers lots of possibilities centred on
Caudale Hause. Keswick is the obvious centre.
These
hills are very photogenic, the most obvious viewpoints points are along
the east shore of Derwentwater and from the (boggy!) hills around Bleaberry
Fell.
