Chef Simon Rogan, a keen climber, focuses on using the more obscure herbs and flavours in his dishes (hyssop, coltsfoot, perilla, hibiscus etc.) at his Michelin starred restaurant.
The menu offers three levels of "taster" multi course meal (twenty for the "gourmand" version, including cheeseboard). There is a choice on the meat "main course" (bottom row, left and centre)
The restaurant is housed in a traditional cottage with white painted interior walls. Service is quite formal with the (French) waiters in lounge suits, although the atmosphere was very relaxed when we visited. The cheese board is also exclusively French. The wine list was reasonably sensible with our choices of Albarino at £32 and Pesquera at £35.The coffee cups are a laugh, almost impossible to hold! (below right)
